‘The Eccentric' is a virtual magazine that shares the viewpoint of the world that explores quirks and idiosyncrasies of contemporary artists. It curates works that reflect the complexity of this era from the eccentrics’ interpretations. In its inaugural edition, The Eccentric introduces and showcases the works of three Korean artists who embody this unique spirit: Lee Bul, Sungsil Ryu, and Germone.
‘The Eccentric’은 동시대 아티스트들의 기이함과 독특함을 탐구하는 시선을 담은 버추얼 매거진입니다.이 매거진은 ‘이센트릭’한 해석을 통해 동시대가 지닌 복합성과 다층적인 면모를 반영하는 작품들을 큐레이션합니다. 창간호에서는 이러한 독특한 정신을 대표하는 세 명의 한국 작가, 이불, 류성실, 점원의 작품을 소개하고 조명합니다.

"The Height of Depression" is a compelling zine that chronicles my personal journey through the tumultuous year of 2019, which proved to be the most challenging year of my life to date. The diary entries within this zine document the invaluable lessons I learned while struggling through depression and hardship.
During this time, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, exploring my likes, dislikes, fears, and desires. Living in a lonely city, I was able to reflect on my relationships with family, friends, and acquaintances, learning to appreciate the positive aspects of these connections and acknowledge areas where I needed to apologize and improve.
This process enabled me to gain a deeper understanding of my habits, identifying areas where I needed to make changes. While the experience was arduous and emotionally draining, I recognize the value of this period of my life.
As I continue to grow and evolve, I am confident that the lessons learned during the "The Height of Depression" will enable me to become a stronger and more resilient individual, capable of facing whatever challenges lie ahead with stubborn determination.
‘우울의 높낮이’는 제 삶에서 가장 힘들었던 시기로 기억되는 2019년 한 해를 기록한 진(zine)으로, 개인적인 경험과 감정의 흐름을 담아낸 작업입니다.
이 진에 수록된 다이어리 형식의 기록들은 우울과 어려움을 겪는 과정 속에서 얻게 된 중요한 깨달음과 배움을 담고 있습니다.
당시 저는 스스로를 깊이 들여다보는 시간을 가지며, 제가 좋아하는 것과 싫어하는 것, 두려움과 욕망에 대해 탐구하게 되었습니다. 외로운 도시에서 생활하며 가족, 친구, 지인들과의 관계를 되돌아볼 수 있었고, 그 관계 속에서 감사해야 할 부분과 함께 반성하고 개선해야 할 지점들 또한 인식하게 되었습니다.
이러한 과정을 통해 제 삶의 습관을 보다 명확히 이해하게 되었으며, 변화가 필요한 부분들을 스스로 인지할 수 있었습니다. 비록 힘들고 감정적으로 소모가 큰 시간이었지만, 이 시기가 제 삶에 있어 의미 있고 가치 있는 경험이었다는 점을 분명히 인식하고 있습니다.이를 통해 얻은 배움은 현재의 저를 더욱 단단하게 만들었으며, 앞으로 마주하게 될 어떤 도전 앞에서도 끈기와 회복력을 가지고 나아갈 수 있는 기반이 되고 있습니다.
